Kym Call, BA

Ms. Call graduated from the University of Utah in 2002 in Communication with an emphasis in Public Relations. She manages the day to day operations of an ongoing research study across multiple sites for the Pediatric Emergency Care Applied Research Network (PECARN) Central Data Management and Coordinating Center (CDMCC). The study is a retrospective chart review study called Predicting Cervical Spine Injury (CSI) in Children: A Multi-Centered Case-Control Analysis. Ms. Call ensures that sites are compliant with Good Clinical Practice, federal regulations and local IRB requirements. She communicates with sites about specific study updates, and procedural questions, provide training on various aspects of study procedures, regulations, and quality issues. Ms. Call monitors study databases and manages study data to identify problems, ensure data quality and patient safety and create progress reports and user accounts.

She also managed a study which completed active enrollment in April 2006 called, "The effectiveness of oral dexamethasone for acute bronchiolitis: A multicenter randomized controlled trial." Data analysis has been completed and the first manuscript has been submitted for publication.

Ms. Call has received extensive training in Good Clinical Practices and Site Monitoring. She has also given several lectures and conducted training session on Good Clinical Practices as well as conducted several site monitoring visits to her study sites.

She has also worked as a program coordinator in PECARN for the following studies: PECARN Core Data Project, Hypothermia for Pediatric Cardiac Arrest Planning Grant and Childhood Head Trauma: A Neuroimaging Decision Rule. Previously she worked as the project coordinator for the Public Access Defibrillation (PAD) trial, and a research assistant to both the Utah Trauma and National Trauma Registry Projects.
